Kelsey Plum, the Las Vegas Aces’ star guard, and Darren Waller, the New York Giants’ tight end, filed for divorce in Clark County District Court in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Plum, 29, and Waller, 31, got married in March 2023 after supposedly dated for a year.
“I’m devastated,” Plum posted on social media. “I walked through fire for that man, but now I realise it’s time to leave. God has given me such a wonderful life, and I am genuinely grateful for the heartfelt affection of my family and friends. One day I’ll tell my story, but this is not the day.”
Plum, a two-time WNBA champion with the Aces, began dating Waller while he was playing for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Plum was the first overall choice in the 2017 WNBA Draft. At the Tokyo Olympics, she won gold in women’s 3×3 basketball.
Waller earned the Pro Bowl in 2020 while playing for the Raiders. He is allegedly undecided about whether to play in the 2024 season or retire from professional football.
